Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about buying and selling on Wavuka Marketplace. If your question isn't answered here, email us at info@wavuka.com.

Does Wavuka own or sell the cars and parts listed on the site?

No. Wavuka does not own, buy, sell, or store any vehicles or parts, and we have no showrooms or stores. Wavuka is a platform that connects private sellers and buyers directly. Everything you see on the site belongs to the individual seller who listed it, and the deal is made between you and that seller.

What can I buy and sell on Wavuka?

Vehicles, spare parts, and automotive accessories. Private owners, suppliers, and dealers can all list. You can find a car and the components for it in the same place.

What makes Wavuka different?

For sellers: Listing is free, and we take no commission on your sale, at least for now as we grow our audience and make our platform best at its job. You set your own price and speak to buyers directly, so nothing is added on top of what you asked for. Every listing is reviewed before it goes live, which means your car sits alongside real listings rather than getting buried under fake ones.

For buyers: You talk to the actual owners or people authorised to sell, not a broker or middlemen. Prices are set by the person selling the car, not inflated by a middleman's cut. Every listing is checked before it appears, and you can filter precisely by make, model, price, region, year, and mileage instead of scrolling endlessly.

Overall: Wavuka is built for automotive trade specifically, not as one category buried inside a general classifieds site. That means proper vehicle filters, real listing review, and cars and parts together in one marketplace, across all 26 regions of Tanzania.

How much does it cost to use Wavuka?

It’s all free. We charge no commissions and take no cut of your sale. Because buyers and sellers deal directly, there are no middleman fees added to the price.

Which geographical region does Wavuka cover?

We primarily operate across all 26 regions in Tanzania, however we are also available to users across the east African region as beyond as our sellers permit, including Zambia, Kenya, Uganda, DRC Congo, Rwanda, Burundi and Malawi.

Do I need an account, and how do I create one?

Yes, you need an account to buy or sell. To create one:

  • Go to wavuka.com in your browser.
  • Tap the profile icon at the top right and select Sign Up.
  • Enter your name, email, and password, or choose Continue with Google.

That's it. You can start browsing and listing right away.

Is there an age requirement?

Yes. You must be at least 18 years old to use Wavuka.

How do I list a car or parts?

To submit your automotive listing:

  • Sign in to your Wavuka account.
  • Click Sell Your Car at the top right.
  • Choose whether you are selling a vehicle or parts.
  • Fill in your contact details and the item details, such as make, model, and year.
  • Upload up to 20 clear, high-quality photos. The first photo becomes your cover image.
  • Click Submit Vehicle for Review.

Once approved, your listing goes live and buyers can find and contact you.

What kind of photos are allowed?

Only genuine photos of the actual item you are selling. Do not use images taken from Google or other listings, and do not use edited or stock photos. Listings with photos that do not match the item will be rejected.

Who reviews my listing, and what happens if it is denied?

Every listing is checked by our review manager before it goes live. If your listing is approved, it appears in the inventory for buyers to find. If it is denied, you will receive a detailed explanation of why, along with the steps to fix it and resubmit.

How long does the review take?

We review listings as quickly as we can. You will be notified once a decision is made.

Can I edit my listing or take it down?

Yes. Sign in and go to your listings to edit the details or remove the listing at any time.

What do I do once my car is sold?

Mark your listing as sold, or remove it, within 24 hours of the sale. This keeps the marketplace accurate and saves buyers from contacting you about a car that has already gone.

How do I find and buy a car or parts?

  • Sign in to your Wavuka account.
  • Use the search bar and filters to narrow down what you need. You can filter by maker, category, price range, location, year, mileage, and listing date, or search by keyword or Stock ID.
  • Open a listing you like and click Message Seller to ask questions or express interest.
  • Arrange a meeting with the seller to inspect the vehicle in person and negotiate the price.
  • Only pay once you are fully satisfied with the vehicle and its documents.
  • Afterwards, come back to Wavuka and leave a review of your experience, whether it was good or bad. Honest reviews help everyone.

What should I check before paying?

Inspect the vehicle yourself or bring a trusted mechanic. Verify the ownership documents. Ask every question you have before any money changes hands. Meet in a safe, public place and use a traceable payment method. Never send money for a vehicle you have not seen.

Does Wavuka guarantee the vehicles listed?

No. We review listings and verify vehicles before they go live, but Wavuka does not inspect every car mechanically, does not act as a dealer, and cannot guarantee any sale or transaction. The final check is always yours to make.

How does Wavuka protect me from scams?

We take several steps before a listing ever reaches you:

  • Listing review: Every listing is checked and approved by our review manager before it appears on the site.
  • Vehicle verification: We verify that sellers genuinely have the vehicle they are listing and that its condition matches the photos provided.
  • Account verification: Sellers must register and verify their identity before they can post.
  • Ongoing removal: We remove fraudulent or misleading listings and can suspend accounts that break our rules.

These checks reduce risk, but they do not remove it entirely. Because deals happen directly between people, your own care still matters. Meet in safe places, inspect the vehicle, verify the documents, and use traceable payment methods.

What do I do if I see a suspicious listing or user?

Report it to us at info@wavuka.com. We investigate every report and will remove listings or suspend accounts that violate our Terms of Use.

Does Wavuka handle payments?

No. Wavuka does not process payments of any kind. Payment terms are agreed privately between the buyer and the seller, and money never passes through our platform.

What are auctions on Wavuka?

Auctions let a seller invite competitive bids instead of setting one fixed price, so interested buyers can place offers. As with every Wavuka listing, the deal is arranged directly between buyer and seller, and Wavuka does not process the payment. Visit the Auctions page to see current listings.

Can I return a vehicle after buying it?

Wavuka does not set or enforce returns, refunds, or exchanges. Any return terms are decided by the individual seller, so agree on them before you pay.

Can I leave a review?

Yes, and we encourage it. Share your honest experience after a transaction, whether positive or negative. Reviews must reflect a real experience and use respectful language. Fake reviews and personal attacks are removed.
